Our History
Founded in 2014 as a 501c3, LEARN Global, Inc. was established following a church mission trip to Lusaka, Zambia that revealed the critical connection between poverty, limited access to education, and long-term outcomes for families and communities. Witnessing firsthand the barriers faced by children and adults alike—particularly the lack of educational opportunities and practical resources—underscored the need for sustainable, community-driven solutions.
In response, LEARN Global, Inc. was created to address these challenges by expanding access to education, equipping families with practical skills, and providing resources that empower communities to break cycles of poverty. Through faith-guided service, strategic partnerships, and a commitment to long-term impact, LEARN Global works alongside local communities to create pathways toward self-sufficiency, resilience, and lasting hope.
Our Founder
Kim Tunnell, Ed.D., is the Founder and President of LEARN Global, Inc. and has served in public education for over 35 years. A first-generation college graduate, Kim’s personal journey fuels her lifelong passion for education as the great equalizer and a catalyst for transforming families and communities. She began her career as a classroom teacher across multiple grade levels before advancing into district and executive leadership roles, including principal, executive director, chief leadership officer, and superintendent. Her leadership resulted in measurable gains in student achievement, the turnaround of low-performing Title I campuses, and the development of nationally recognized schools. Kim has also served as an adjunct professor, educational consultant, and national presenter, and remains a steadfast advocate for public education as a cornerstone of a thriving democracy. Her passion for education extends globally to Zambia, Africa, where she has helped establish a school—work that directly inspired the foundation of LEARN Global to break cycles of poverty and build lasting hope through education.
